Does the “Most Awesome Breakfast Smothie” taste any good?

  3. Jessica on October 3rd, 2009 9:26 am

We were all excited about this smoothie, and all 4 of my kids were helping put the ingredients in, and none of us could swallow a single gulp. Myself included. I’m sad that I wasted so many ingredients. :( We’ll try another kind another day.

I’m so sorry, Jessica. What was so bad about it? Maybe this recipe needs modification.

usually the healthiest things don’t taste so awesome, but there are a lot of benefits to them!:D

@Jessica: for kids in particular you may need to add a sweetener—some of the ingredients above are bitter (yogurt, oj); including fruit if it isn’t ripe (banana, kiwi). I add agave for a sweetener, also my daughter doesn’t like super thick shakes, so I make them thinner for her. Also tofu can give a slightly odd flavor. I agree with Maya, but taste is an important factor—especially with kids.

I have not tried this smoothie, but really, I can imagine Jessica and kids did not like it. Too many ingredients that scream at each other. Sorry, but I’m not even gonna try this one.

I agree with jane: seriously, tofu? im sorry but it just dosen’t look like any of the ingredients would taste good with each other. just looking at it, kinda makes me wanna puke. im rooting for jessica and jane. :p

It is Sunday morning, and I just made this and my 7 year old son really liked it, though he asked what was in it, and I just ignored the question,as he refuses to eat bananas, kiwi, and tofu. I disagree with Jan, as I really enjoyed it and would definitely make it again.

I’m going to try this tomorrow minus the Aloe Vera juice and flax seed. Could not find those in store. Also, I am going to use skim milk instead of soy milk. I’m not buying that crap.

Not bad. Not great either. The blender I bought turns out to be a piece of crap. I could not find the Aloe thing nor the flax weed stuff.

Phytoestrogenes are part of un-fermented soy, boys and men should not drink or eat this. Substitute with yogurt or goats milk. Other wise this is a good smoothie.

Is this a joke? I’m sorry, but I disagree. Good health is not about this kind of violence on taste-buds. Also, you can’t just combine foods in any manner you like for a sum of their individual effects. Ask a nutritionist. I think you’re refering to Kiwifruit Mate. “Kiwi” is a bird, or us New Zealanders in general. :-)

  15. AJ on October 10th, 2011 5:51 am

Maybe in NZ you refer to them as kiwifruit, but elsewhere I think people just say “kiwi”. I have never heard someone say “kiwifruit”!

I can see how it would be confusing/funny in NZ though!
