A Paleo diet is based on consuming meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, a little starch and no sugar, grains, legumes or alcohol. While that may seem extreme, there’s no doubt that heading in that direction with your diet can have significant health benefits. You may not want to go completely Paleo, but consider adding some Paleo smoothies to your routine. Here are some benefits you can expect.

One of the best benefits of smoothies in general is that the body will absorb as much as four times more nutrients from blended food than it will from food that has to be chewed. Greens are the most nutrient dense food group on the planet.

Paleo Smoothie for Weightloss

Smoothies are easier to digest. The stomach does not have to break down any food to process. For that reason, your diet shouldn’t consist solely of smoothies, but they’re a great addition to healthy eating.

Not everyone can be a fan of consuming large amounts of vegetables, especially green vegetables. But these can easily be blended into a smoothie as a great way of consuming nutrient dense foods.

Smoothies can be quick and relatively inexpensive to prepare. They can be great alongside a salad or a steak.

Chocolate Cherry Cinnamon Smoothie

The unsweetened cocoa powder in this recipe brings out the flavor of the cherries while not adding sugar. Cinnamon is known to help regulate blood sugar, lower LDL cholesterol, and reduce the risk of cancer.

What you’ll need for two servings:

  • 1 ½ cups fresh or frozen cherries (if frozen, watch for added sugar)
  • 1 banana
  • ½ cup cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ¾ cup water
  • 4 ice cubes

Citrus Pineapple Smoothie

  • 1 banana
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 orange, peeled and quartered
  • Juice of one lime
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp ginger
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • ½ cup coconut milk
  • ¾ cup water

Add all ingredients to blender. Blend until smooth. Add water to get to the desired consistency if needed. Serve up two delicious glasses and enjoy. Enjoy more orange smoothie recipes.

Low Carb Chocolate Almond

Almond milk is not really “milk” but it comes from ground and soaked almonds. It’s a great substitute for real milk for those who may be lactose intolerant or those who want to avoid soy milk. Ingredients you’ll need:

  • 1 Cup Almond Milk
  • 2 tbsp Avocado
  • 2 tbsp Almond Butter

Add the ingredients to your blender. Blend until you get the desired consistency and enjoy.
