Healthy Fruit and Vegetable Smoothies can be a regular meal if done correctly. Please submit your healthy smoothie recipes.
Strawberries are good source of vitamins and nutritional value. These are things that stress can deprive us of and drinking fruit smoothies containing strawberries can help replenish us and keep us healthy.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups strawberries
- 1/2 cup strawberry nectar
- 1 pitted peach
- 1 cup low-fat plain yogurt or strawberry yogurt if you don’t have the nectar.
- 2 cups ice
Tomatoes are a great ingredient for a healthy smoothie recipe because of their antioxidant properties. Men in particular should add tomatoes to their diet to help prevent prostate cancer.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups (chopped) tomatoes
- 1/2 cup tomatoe juice
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- 1/2 cup carrots
- 1/4 cup (chopped) celery
- Tabasco or hot sauce to taste
- 2 cups ice
Trying to get out the door in the morning and eat a good breakfast is a tough combination, so finding a good smoothie combination to help me is a good idea. Well, I like Grape Nuts cereal and I like to mix it in yogurt and eat it with lunch or for a snack. So why not blend it into a breakfast smoothie? So I did.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Grape Nuts cereal
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (low-fat)
- 1 cup ice
- 1 banana
- 2 cups juice (orange, apple or whatever you like. I wouldn’t mind trying pineapple in this)
Blend and feel the energy!
A smoothie for breakfast is a great way to start the day. This breakfast smoothie has a great taste and is, of course, great for you.
Ingredients:
- 1-1/2 cups fat free milk
- 1 peeled and sliced medium banana,frozen – wrap sliced banana in plastic wrap or place in a freezer storage bag – freeze several hours or overnight.
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract, optional
- Cinnamon for garnish, optional
Preparation:
- In a blender container combine all ingredients, except cinnamon.
- Blend until smooth, about 20 seconds.
- Pour into glasses and garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, if desired.
Makes two servings.
Ginger Tropical Smoothie
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 banana
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger root
- 1/2 cup crushed ice, or 2 small ice cubes
Add all ingredients to blender and process until smooth. Serves 1
Orange Pineapple Coconut Smoothie
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 1 tbsp coconut milk
- 1/2 banana
- 1/4 tsp grated fresh ginger root
- 1/2 cup crushed ice or 2 small ice cubes
Add all ingredients to blender and process until smooth. Serves 1.

- 1 Cup Watermelon; Cut Up
- 1 Cup Cantaloupe Or Honeydew;
- 1 Cup Pineapple; Cut Up
- 1 Cup mango; Cut Up
- 1 Cup Strawberries; Halved
- 1/4 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup Orange Juice
- Crushed Ice
Mix all ingredients except ice. Fill blender container 1/2 full of mixture. Add crushed ice to fill to the top. Cover and blend on high speed until
of a uniform consistency. Repeat with remaining mixture. Serve immediately; garnish with fruit, if desired. Garnish with a strawberry and a sprig of mint.

Power Smoothie
- 1/2 banana
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup fruit juice (i.e. orange, cranberry, etc.)
For added nutrition use:
- 1 Tbls. soy protein powder
- 1 Tbls. molasses
- 1 tsp. wheat germ.
Blend until smooth. Then add frozen fruit, i.e. strawberries, raspberries, etc., one at a time, until smoothie is consistency you desire. The basic recipe is: ice, fruit, yoghurt, juice and/or milk. (I usually stick to juice, but sometimes add just a splash of milk to smooth it out.)
Peachy Power Smoothie
Smoothie Ingredients:
- 1 cup Low-fat vanilla yogurt
- 1 cup Sliced peaches
- 1/4 cup Wheat germ
- 1/4 cup Orange juice
- 1 cup Ice cubes
In blender or food processor, combine yogurt, peaches, banana, wheat germ,= 1/4 cup orange juice and ice cubes. Cover and blend about 1 minute, or until smooth. Serve immediately, poured into tall glasses and garnished with peach slices and sprinkled with 2 tablespoons wheat germ.
Adding the soy and tofu gives this a protein boost along with all the helpful nutrition provided by soy and tofu.
strawberry Soy Smoothie Recipe
- 1 cup vanilla soy milk
- 5 ounces silken tofu, firm, chilled and cubed
- 2 cups frozen or fresh strawberries
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Combine in blender. Makes 2 shakes.
