Orange Melon Smoothie Recipe
This smoothie has become one of my favorites! To me it tastes very similar to a orange dreamsicle just not quite as sweet. This would be right up a kid’s alley and perfect for a summer afternoon.
AS for Nutrition it offers a low 150 Calories and 1 gram of fat per serving. This great tasting smoothie also comes in low on the charts for cholesterol and sodium, two things people usually get too much of in their diet. So with this smoothie clocking only 1% of your RDA for Cholesterol and 2% of your RDA for sodium you just can’t beat it!
We have talked about what is not in this smoothie let’s talk about two things it does have in it. It packs a whopping 109% of your RDA for Vitamin C. Vitamin C is an important part of everyone’s diet. It helps detoxify our bodies which helps us to better deal with stress. It also supports the good bacteria in our stomach and stops bad bacteria and viruses. It really is a great immune system support. This yummy smoothie also has a fair amount of dietary fiber to help keep things moving and dietary fiber is another one of those things most people do not get enough of.
So what is not to love? A great tasting smoothie that has great health benefits too, plus tastes a lot like a orange dreamsicle. It goes without saying that this has quickly become a family favorite!

1 orange, peeled
½ cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
½ teaspoon lemon juice

Directions
- Add the yogurt first – it helps the blender move everything along more smoothly
- Then add the frozen honeydew chunks (more on freezing melon below!)
- Toss in your peeled orange sections
- Add your lemon juice, honey, and ice
- Blend until smooth and creamy – I like mine with a tiny bit of texture, but you can go super smooth if that's your preference

My Orange Melon Sunrise Smoothie: The Creamsicle Dream That Changed My Mornings
Do you remember those orange creamsicle popsicles from childhood? That magical combination of sweet orange and creamy vanilla? Well, friends, I accidentally recreated that flavor in smoothie form, and it's become my absolute go-to morning ritual! 🍊
I stumbled upon this Orange Melon combination last summer when I had both fruits that needed using before a weekend trip. What started as a “clean out the fridge” experiment turned into a smoothie I now crave nearly every day. The honeydew adds this subtle sweetness and the most gorgeous light color that genuinely makes me happy each morning.
Why I'm Obsessed With These Ingredients
I've always loved oranges (who doesn't love peeling one and getting that burst of citrus scent?), but pairing it with honeydew melon was a game-changer for me. The honeydew adds this subtle sweetness and silky texture that balances the tangy orange perfectly.
What I love most about this combination is that it packs a serious vitamin C punch – like 109% of what you need daily! As someone who catches every cold that goes around the office, I've noticed I feel much more resilient when I'm consistent with my vitamin C intake. Plus, it adds some fiber that keeps me full until lunch, which my mid-morning snacking habit appreciates! 😅
The vanilla yogurt adds creaminess without heaviness, and that tiny touch of lemon juice brightens everything. Trust me on the lemon juice – don't skip it!
My Daily Smoothie Practice Tips
Freezing the honeydew is absolutely key for this recipe! I've found cutting it into 1-inch cubes and freezing them on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer bag works perfectly. This way they don't all stick together in one giant melon block! 🍈
If your oranges aren't particularly sweet (especially in winter), you might want to add an extra teaspoon of honey. I taste as I go and adjust.
I've also found this smoothie keeps well in an insulated bottle for about 4 hours, which makes it perfect for bringing to work. I make a double batch, enjoy half at home, and bring the rest for a mid-morning boost.
Nutrient Preservation Tip: I've learned that vitamin C is sensitive to heat, light, and air. To maximize nutrients, I always:
- Use frozen fruit (freezing actually preserves vitamin C)
- Consume immediately or store in an opaque container
- Use a powerful blender that works quickly (less oxidation)
The beauty of this smoothie is that it doesn't feel like a “health food” – it genuinely tastes like a treat. The creamsicle flavor brings me joy every morning, which I've found is the most important factor in maintaining any healthy habit.
