Green Julius Smoothie Recipe

This submission isn't a smoothie recipe I have tried. And I'm not the biggest fan of green smoothies - usually not sweet enough for my tastes, but the health benefits of green smoothies can't be ignored. Please let me know if you try this one. I am very curious how the parsley would taste. That's a lot of parsley. A thousand pardons to the more famous Orange Julius recipes we have at Submitted by Charlene McClellan

1 1/2 cups orange juice
2 large mangoes
2 cups fresh parsley or spinach
2 cups of ice
honey (to taste)

I got a good sweet mango, put in half spinach & half parsley, and it was delicious and nutritious with all those chloroplasts. It tasted very creamy without any dairy.

I just tried this smoothie with only one alteration, I added some almond milk to it. But it was so yummy…..then I kicked it up by adding one egg for protein and a banana for potassium and OMG it was awsome. Thanks for the idea. makes a wonderful meal on the go for me in the morning.

This one was amazing!!! I couldn’t find mangoes because of the time of year so I used frozen ones. This eliminated the need for ice. I used baby spinach and added just a touch of vanilla yogurt… Delicious!!!! I love the green/sweet smell that it has and the taste was perfect! I feel healthier just drinking it! :)

Yummie! I used one honey mango, and one regular mango. I also added 1 TBS rice protein powder and 1 TBS of flaxseed.
This tasted so much creamier than what i anticipated! Excellent blend!

This is the first green smoothie I’ve made. I don’t hate it, but it will take some getting use to.
This may be a stupid question, but do you drink the whole thing? It seems like a LOT!

Ugh. I guess I never learned how to read. 16 oz as a serving. Gotcha.

This tastes great! I did a slight change, instead of two cups of spinach i put one and added a tiny tiny bit of milk. I wasnt sure how bitter the spinach was going to make it but i loved it!

Sorry if this is a stupid question, bit I am a first time smoothie maker. Should I peel the skin off the mangoes?

This is ironic for me. I just talked to our publisher about whether or not we should list that you need to peel the mango when listed in our new book, Skinny Smoothies: 101 Delicious Drinks that Help You Detox and Lose Weight. I guess we do. So, yes, always peel the mango, you cannot eat the skin. Thanks.

    For Kelly Anderson:

I halved this recipe for a single serving, used spinach and substituted organic guava nectar for the honey. The result was a thick smoothie, pleasing to the taste buds and loaded with stuff to make you feel good. Need I say more?

I have been making this smoothie for breakfast for a couple months now. I usually add 2 handfulls of spinach, 4 egg whites, 1/2 cup plain yogurt, 1/2 cup water and a teaspoon of cinnamon. Sometimes I substitute fresh basil for the spinach and that is good as well. This is an easy way to get the green vegies in at the beginning of the day.
    Thanks for posting the recipe.

I just made and really enjoyed that smoothie… however, I put 1 banana (to make it sweeter) with the 2 cups of spinach, 1 mango, and 1 cup water versus orange juice to minimize calories) and 5 ice cubes

Instead of orange juice I added 1 large navel orange

I have a simple one which energises me and makes my eyes sparkle – spinach, curly cale – 50 / 50 and a few mint leaves to taste. It’s not a tequila sunrise but it isn’t bitter and dosent repeat. Being doing th all week a d feel brand new :)
