Wheatgrass Smoothie

April 29, 2011 · Filed Under Healthy Smoothies, Low Fat Smoothies, Non-Dairy Smoothies · 7 Comments

I have never had a wheatgrass smoothie so I’m can’t really write anything about it other than to ask you to tell me if a wheatgrass smoothie is good. Is it? Should I try it? Will I like it? Are there any similar tastes? Leave your responses in the comments below. I am really curious if I should start drinking them. I found this recipe in my Vitamix Blender Recipe book.

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 medium orange, peeled and halved
  • 1 medium apple, quartered
  • 4 strawberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup of wheatgrass
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Place all the ingredients in your blender and blend for about 1 minute. Then come back to this website and tell us how it was. Be honest, my taste buds are at stake.

Frozen Blueberry Smoothie Recipe

February 15, 2010 · Filed Under Blueberry Smoothies, Low Fat Smoothies · 15 Comments

I have been on a blueberry kick lately and what better way to get some blueberries in your diet than with a blueberry smoothie. Nothing complicated here, but the honey will really sweeten this smoothie. You may wish to taste before adding it in.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
  • 1/2 cup 1% skim or 1% milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2-3 ice cubes (optional)

Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth or to desired consistency then serve in glasses.

Wheat Germ Smoothie

June 1, 2009 · Filed Under Healthy Smoothies, Low Fat Smoothies, Yogurt Smoothies · 2 Comments

I had a request of a wheat germ smoothie and didn’t have any smoothie recipes with wheat germ as a big part of the ingredients. I found this one on eHow, but if you have one you would like to share please submit to blenderman@smoothieweb.com.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe medium banana
  • 1 cup vanilla low-fat or nonfat yogurt
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup cracked ice
  • 1 cup sliced fresh peaches or banana slices

Preparation:

  1. Cut banana into chunks.
  2. Put banana and yogurt in a blender with peaches, orange juice and wheat germ.
  3. Add cracked ice.
  4. Blend until smooth.
  5. Serve immediately in tall glass.
  6. Garnish with peach or banana slices and sprinkle 2 tsp. wheat germ on top.

Raspberry Strawberry Smoothie

My first twitter smoothie recipe submission. Hopefully not my last. This is from @victormazur. I haven’t tried it, but can you go wrong with strawberries, raspberries and pineapple? I submit you cannot. As always, please let me know if you liked it. Thanks, Victor!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of strawberries
  • 1 cup of raspberries
  • 1/2 cup of pineapple juice
  • 1 cup of low-fat natural yogurt
  • 5 ice cubes

You can use frozen berries in place of the ice cubes.

Lime Smoothie

lime-smoothie1

It is time for lime, as in a refreshing lime smoothie recipe. I personally love the taste of lime and you’ll notice there are not too many smoothie recipes for this wonderful fruit. Of course to make it more palatable I have add some great sweeteners. Let me know what you think.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup lime (sliced)
  • 3/4 cup low-fat milk
  • 1 cup lime sherbet (can be light or low fat)
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 2 cups ice

You can substitute key lime yogurt for the sherbet for a smoother, albeit, slightly different taste.

We hope this smoothie recipe provieds you with the smoothie of your dreams.
