Avocado & Berry Smoothie Recipe



I must sadly admit that I only discovered my love of avocados a few years ago after a trip to Hawaii. But I have made up for the lack of avocado recipes in my life since by eating my weight in guacamole. And more recently I have started making avocado smoothies since the avocado is laden with nutrition our bodies need and a taste our taste buds practically cheer for. So what better use for this fruit than to add it to a smoothie recipe?

Avocados are a good source of fiber, potassium, and vitamins C,K, folate, and B6. Half an avocado has 160 calories, 15 grams of heart-healthy unsaturated fat, and only 2 grams saturated fat. One globe contains more than one-third daily value of vitamin C, and more than half the day’s requirements of vitamin K.

One food critic claimed, “In this single delectable fruit are combined the protein of meat, the fat of butter [but much more wholesome!], the vitamins and minerals of green vegetables, the flavor of nuts, a six course dinner.”

    I made this smoothie except I didn’t have kiwi so I added some red grapes, I used all frozen mixed fruit (blueberries, blackberries and rasberries) and I added some flax and chia. It was yummy!!
