Spiced Carrot Smoothie
I’m not a big fan of vegetable smoothies, which is obviously a hang-up I need to overcome. So I am trying to include more vegetable smoothies on smoothieweb.com, and what sweeter vegetable is there to start with than the delicious carrot. Here is a smoothie recipe for a spiced carrot smoothie.
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1 cup cooked, chopped carrots
- 1/4 cup applesauce
- 1/4 inch piece of gingerroot, peeled
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt, or to taste
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper, or to taste
Combine apple juice, carrots, applesauce, gingerroot and cinnamon and blend from low to high until creamy smoothie. Season with salt and cayenne pepper to your taste.

Broccoli Blueberry Smoothie
I have never made a smoothie with broccoli and blueberries specifically, but I have throw in some broccoli florets when making a smoothie every now and then. Quite possibly one of my smoothies had blueberries but I don’t remember for sure. I have been making a habit of adding vegetables at the last minute to many of my fruit smoothies as they provide good nutrition, aren’t wasted and rarely to the detract from the flavor. You would be amazed at how much vegetables you can add to a fruit smoothie without your kids being any the wiser. ;-)
But I did have a request for a broccoli and blueberry smoothie so I went hunting and this combination has not been tried and published that often. In fact, this is the only one I could find on the livestrong website. Please provide any links or your own recipe in the comments below. I’d love to add more to the site. In the meantime, try this one or start tossing in few broccoli florets to any smoothie you are making.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup of steamed broccoli
- 1 cup of 100 percent cranberry juice
- 1/2 cup of low-fat plain yogurt
Blend and combine to make 1 smoothie. Add strawberries or blackberries for an additional burst of nutrition.

Sweet Veggie Smoothie
Winter is here and the cold season comes along for the ride. Help your immune system with this veggie smoothie. Fruits and vegetables help you stay healthy and this smoothie has both. An apple a day…

- 1/4 cup applesauce
- 1/2 cup sliced carrots
- 1/2 cup of cucumber (peeled and sliced)
- 2 cups of ice

Blend this vegetable smoothie until smooth. Adding the nutmeg and cinnamon will give it great fragrance.
Berry, Berry Good Smoothie
This is a fun smoothie packed with everything. Adding a carrot may sound odd, but you’ll hardly taste it and the extra vitamins will do you good. Try it without the carrot if vegetables offend you. ;-)

- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1 cup 2% milk
- 1 cup apple juice (unsweetened)
- 2 cups ice
- 1 small carrot
Blend until the nutrients are singing.
Tomato Smoothie
Tomatoes are a great ingredient for a healthy smoothie recipe because of their antioxidant properties. Men in particular should add tomatoes to their diet to help prevent prostate cancer.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups (chopped) tomatoes
- 1/2 cup tomatoe juice
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- 1/2 cup carrots
- 1/4 cup (chopped) celery
- Tabasco or hot sauce to taste
- 2 cups ice
