August 13, 2011 · Filed Under Breakfast Smoothies, Healthy Smoothies · 1 Comment

POM-Breakfast-smoothieThis POM smoothie is full of super healthy antioxidants from the pomegranate juice and and the almonds. The banana provides a great source of potassium. This is being labeled as a breakfast smoothie, but it ain’t bad for a lunch smoothie either. Why is pomegranate juice (POM) so wonderful: Its has wonderful healthy benefits such as Antioxidants. There have been many Scientific Studies showing that POM can support a healthy cardiovascular system and helps with problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes Type II among others.

And just how rich in antioxidants is POM pomegranate juice? Take a look at the image below rating high antioxidant juices. POM scores the highest.

Berry Healthy Breakfast Smoothie

February 12, 2011 · Filed Under Breakfast Smoothies, Healthy Smoothies · 12 Comments

berry-healthy-breakfast-smoothieWhile just about all smoothies are packed with vitamins since their ingredients are usually fruits and vegetables, there are some healthy smoothies that are healthier and more rich in vitamins than others. This is one of the best healthy smoothies I have come across and its taste can’t be beat. I usually prefer frozen fruit for a better texture and consistency, but frozen or fresh this will be a delicious and healthy breakfast smoothie or anytime smoothie.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1/2 cup blackberries
  • 1 medium carrot
  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • 1 cup pomegranate (cranberry is an okay substitute)
  • 2 cups ice

Easily 2 servings, but don’t feel too guilty if you finish it by yourself, it is that good.

Banana Crunch Breakfast Smoothie

July 10, 2010 · Filed Under Breakfast Smoothies · 14 Comments

Don’t want to sit down and eat your breakfast out of a bowl? This breakfast smoothie is great for those of us who are running late for work and prefer to drink our breakfast on the way to work. This smoothie for breakfast has it all: breakfast cereal, milk and fruit.

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup milk (I use skim or 1%)
  • 2 Tbs. of honey or sugar-free honey substitute
  • 1/2 cup granola
  • 1/2 cup of ice

Be sure to comment how this turned out for you. It can seem weird drinking granola, but it really just gives the drink a nice texture. You also might want to try adding 1/4 or 1/2 cup of plain yogurt to add a bit of tart flavor or to help smooth it out.

No time for a bowl of granola cereal? Take a granola smoothie to go. Great breakfast smoothie.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup 1% milk
  • 1 banana
  • 2 Tbs honey
  • 3/4 cup granola
  • 1/2 cup ice

1 serving, but it is a delicious serving. Feel free to use more or less fat in your milk as you prefer. I like a little milk fat, so I chose 1%.
