Banana Crunch Breakfast Smoothie

July 10, 2010 · Filed Under Breakfast Smoothies · 2 Comments

Don’t want to sit down and eat your breakfast out of a bowl? This breakfast smoothie is great for those of us who are running late for work and prefer to drink our breakfast on the way to work. This smoothie for breakfast has it all: breakfast cereal, milk and fruit.

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup milk (I use skim or 1%)
  • 2 Tbs. of honey or sugar-free honey substitute
  • 1/2 cup granola
  • 1/2 cup of ice

Be sure to comment how this turned out for you. It can seem weird drinking granola, but it really just gives the drink a nice texture. You also might want to try adding 1/4 or 1/2 cup of plain yogurt to add a bit of tart flavor or to help smooth it out.

No time for a bowl of granola cereal? Take a granola smoothie to go. Great breakfast smoothie.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup 1% milk
  • 1 banana
  • 2 Tbs honey
  • 3/4 cup granola
  • 1/2 cup ice

1 serving, but it is a delicious serving. Feel free to use more or less fat in your milk as you prefer. I like a little milk fat, so I chose 1%.

Healthy Breakfast Smoothie

I decided to make a instructional video about my most favorite healthy breakfast smoothie recipe. I have this smoothie about once a week and would do it more if I had the time every morning. This smoothie can be had anytime as a meal replacement so don’t let the breakfast title fool you. They whey powder makes this a tasty protein smoothie as well. The smoothie recipe is below the movie.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of frozen berries (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and/or strawberries)
  • 1 scoop of whey powder
  • 1 Tbs. flaxseed oil
  • 1Tbs. ground flaxseed
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1 pack of Stevia
  • 8 ice cubes
  • 1 cup water

Blend until smooth and if needed you can add a few ice cubes to thiken it up. Make a little over sixteen ounces, so it will a good size to go cup and you can take a quick shot of the extra before you head out the door.

Breakfast Replacement Smoothie

Trying to get out the door in the morning and eat a good breakfast is a tough combination, so finding a good smoothie combination to help me is a good idea. Well, I like Grape Nuts cereal and I like to mix it in yogurt and eat it with lunch or for a snack. So why not blend it into a breakfast smoothie? So I did.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Grape Nuts cereal
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (low-fat)
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 banana
  • 2 cups juice (orange, apple or whatever you like. I wouldn’t mind trying pineapple in this)

Blend and feel the energy!
