Sour Black Cherry Smoothie

November 6, 2011 · Filed Under Cherry Smoothies · Comment

black-cherry-smoothieAre you the kind of person who like the sour more in the “sweet and sour” combination? Do you like a good pucker after you take a drink? Wait, don’t answer that. But you know what I mean. If tart is your taste then you should give this cherry smoothie a try. It is sour but great tasting. Don’t be afraid to add a sweetener such as Stevia if you need a little more sweet in your sour.

Sour Cherry ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup cranberry juice
  • 1 cup pitted black cherries
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 1/3 cup plain yogurt
  • 4 ice cubes

Combine the ingredients in your favorite blender and blend (from low to high if you have variable speeds) until smooth. Serves 2 or 1 if you are really hungry.

Sunny D in a smoothie? Okay. Jell-o in a smoothie? Not to sure. I haven’t tried this, but it was submitted so I feel obligated to put it on the site. Please write a comment or send an email if you try this or some variation.

  • 1/4 cup of Sunny D
  • 1 cup of Dole Mix Fruit in Black Cherry Gel (Fruit Jello Cup)
  • 6 cubes of ice.

Blend all fruit and Sunny D together to its smooth, then put ice cubes in and blend till thick and ice is completely crushed. Pour into cup and enjoy!

No Oxidantal Buzz!

April 19, 2009 · Filed Under Alcoholic Smoothies, Cherry Smoothies · 1 Comment

No Oxidantal Buzz!

This recipe combines the powerful antioxidants found in tart cherries with an antioxidant cousin, the pomegranate.  Mix them with some vodka and ice and the result is a multi-berryable buzz.  You can spice up the drink with some blackberry brandy.  Use it in moderation as it tends to overpower the other flavors.  You may or may want to add a spoonful of sugar to help the (tart) go down, although, it’s very delicious on its own!
Ingredients:

  • 8 oz Ice
  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Pomegranate Liquor
  • ½ oz Blackberry Brandy (Optional)
  • 8 oz Tart Cherry Juice
  • 1 Table Spoon Sugar (Add or Subtract to individual preference)

Preparation:

  • Mix all in Blender
  • Pour into 10 oz Glass
  • Garnish with a Maraschino Cherry
  • Serve

Berries Gone Bananas!

March 1, 2009 · Filed Under Alcoholic Smoothies, Cherry Smoothies · Comment

This recipe is a relative of “No Oxidantal Buzz”.  It achieves a good balance of sweet and sour using a combination of rum and tart cherry juice.  It offsets its fragile image with the intimidation factor it earns by acting completely bananas.
Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Ice
  • 2 oz Rum
  • 8 oz Cherry Juice (Regular or Tart)
  • 1 Banana

Preparation:

  1. Mix all in Blender
  2. Pour into 10 oz Glass
  3. Garnish with a Maraschino Cherry
  4. Serve

We hope this smoothie recipe provieds you with the smoothie of your dreams.
