Watermelon Smoothie Recipe

What is the all-time favorite summer fruit? Okay, maybe it is just me, but I would say watermelon. So what would an incredible summer smoothie probably include? You get one guess. I hope you said watermelon because that is just about all this watermelon smoothie has. We did add a healthy splash of lime juice for some tart flavor and some honey to take the tartness to a perfect level. With only .9g of fat, this is also a low-fat smoothie recipe.

I thought it tasted great until I added the honey. I can not stand it! And i added less than the recipe called for. Watermelon + Honey = a NO NO!

Very good! I added a scoop of protein, a couple lettuce leaves, and a couple handfuls of ice. AMAZING.

I find it doesn’t need the sweetener, especially if you get a really ripe juicy watermelon. Try with a little cardamom for an interesting flavor twist. So refreshing!

Not a fan of this. Too watery and the honey is gross

can this be frozen and then used at a later date?

IF you need sweetener try grapes or agave honey. It’ll sweeten it up without adding flavor.

CAn u substitute the lime juice for lemon juice?

    • Reply Blender Man July 21, 2012

Of course. They both have that citrus flavor and add the same benefits. It is really just a matter of preference.

What happens if you use frozen melon? Do I still need the ice? I froze alot of melon this summer and smoothies all winter.

    • Reply Blender Man August 20, 2012

Try it with just frozen melon then, but add a bit more to make us for less volume because you have now removed the ice.

Love this! Three things that make this the best: A REALLY RIPE watermellon, fresh lime juice with even some of the pulp, and avage nectar instead of honey. It tastes so good that it reminds me of being somewhere tropical!
