I’m not a huge fan of pina colada, although I love the song. ;-) But I must admit I do love the smell of coconut so if you make this smoothie, I would suggest really getting the coconut milk and not using regular milk. It will make all the difference. This is a great breakfast smoothie with plenty of vitamins and protein to get your day started right and make you feel as if you are on vacation in some tropical paradise. I also think substituting the apple for mango is a nice twist. Comment below if you try this tropical smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pineapple
- 1 apple
- 3 Tbs coconut milk
- 1 banana
- 1 orange
Blend and serve. If you want to get fancy add a Cocktail drink Umbrella and garnish with pineapple and banana.

I’ve tried that before and I loved it! I’ve made this specific drink two different ways. One, with using fresh pineapple. The other with using pineapple juice concentrate. I think both versions are tasty however the concentrate makes the smoothie a bit more sweet. Whenever I use concentrate I tend to add extra banana in order to keep the consistency the same.
Great drink though. I enjoy them on hot weekends in June on the deck with my dog. I try to always use organic fruit. Unfortunately I have issue with its accessibility and affordability. Fresh organic fruit is always much better in my opinion.

This is a GREAT drink! I love pina colada gum and pina colada as a flavor! :) And this drink tastes even better if possible! haha! A must try drink! (If you don’t have coconut milk, you can substitute with regular milk and and coconut flakes! Same taste and texture!
It was delicious! I used mangoes instead of apples, as you said. Also, I added some almond powder to the mix, just to add some texture, nutrition, and looks to it. Thanks for the recipe!
This sounds delicious. I would like to add some protein powder to it also. Do any of you know how many calories is in this smoothie? Thanks!
For those who have made this, how much / how many servings does this recipe yield? Thanks!
Tried this smoothie and absolutely love it! Thanks for this recipe.
A HALF pineapple or a 1/2 CUP?
@alyr – Use 1/2 a pineapple.
