Peachy Watermelon Smoothie
I love watermelon and the fact that it is only in season for such a short time means I try to eat it as often as I can during the few summer months when it is at its most refreshing and sweet. For some reason I don’t often use it my smoothie recipes even though watermelon is a incredibly healthy food for you. This delicious food is packed with some of the most powerful antioxidants in nature, including Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Vitamin B7. These reduce the chance of colon cancer, relieve some symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, according to The World’s Healthiest Foods. So here is a summer smoothie recipe featuring watermelon, strawberries and peach flavor.
Peachy Watermelon Smoothie Ingredients:
- 2-3 cups watermelon (seeded)
- 1 cup low fat vanilla yogurt
- 1 cup strawberries (frozen)
- 1/2 cup peach juice
(or try 1 peach if you don’t have juice)
You know the drill, add to your blender and blend until smooth. Makes 2 nice size glasses.
Lemon Kiwi Cooler Smoothie
When life gives you lemon, make lemonade, or so the saying goes. But on this site, I say instead of making lemonade, make a lemon smoothie. And if you follow this motto here is the lemon smoothie to try. If you like a tart flavor then you are already a fan of the lemon or even the lime and this smoothie meets my tart expectations. The use of a the kiwi is a flavor mix and the grapes and a counter sweetness that make it come alive. I would love to hear comments on the use of lemons in your smoothie recipes so please share your reviews after you try this one. I wouldn’t mind hearing about the use of a lime in place or in addition to the lemon. Bring it on!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups grapes (red or green, but I prefer red grapes)
- 1/2 lemon, peeled and seeded
- 1/2 kiwi, peeled (trust me, you must peel it or you will get the hairiest smoothie ever.)
- 3 cups of ice.
Preparation time: about 5 minutes, yields about 5 cups.
Plush Purple Grape Smoothie
While looking through my nearly barren refrigerator for a snack I discovered that it was more barren than I suspected. I opened the fruit storage bin and found some dark purple (black) grapes and then turned to eye my blender. I wasn’t sure that I had any smoothie recipes for purple or black grapes so I went online and found this recipe. I don’t mind grape skin and to be honest my Vitamix blender liquefies most everything, but if your blender doesn’t, you may want to peel the grapes first. I don’t recommend it, it adds to the texture.
This recipe is very basic which I like, but a few recipe twists can help add flavor. I would use almond milk instead of milk and I would add some blueberries to round out the flavor. At the time I had these ingredients so I stuck with them and enjoyed my Purple Grape Smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups seedless black grapes
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 cup milk
- 4 tbsp sugar (or to taste) I personally like Stevia but the recipe I found called for sugar.
- ice-cubes or crushed ice (optional)
Serves 2.

Just Dew It Smoothie
I just bought a Vitamix Blender and this is one of the smoothie recipes that was included in the recipe book. It is not often I include a melon smoothie so honeydew smoothie recipe is a welcome addition.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Honeydew chunks
- 1 medium orange
- 1/2 medium peach, pitted
- 1/2 cup fresh pineapple chunks, core can be included
- 1 cup ice cubes
Preparation: Start blender at low and increase slowly to high. Blend for 45 seconds or until desired smoothie-ness is reached. ;-) It should yield about 2 servings (3 1/4 cups)
