Green Smoothie Goodness

March 7, 2010 · Filed Under Green Smoothies · Comment

Another green smoothie with a distinct flavor. Mixing pear and banana is something you will discover is a delicious and wonderful flavor combination. You won’t even taste the kale, but you will still get the health benefits.

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 Gala apple
  • 1 pear
  • 1 cup of kale
  • 1/2 cup water

This makes 2-3 servings, but don’t feel bad downing the entire smoothie by yourself. It is that good.

  • 1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
  • 1/2 cup 1% skim or 1% milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2-3 ice cubes (optional)

Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth or to desired consistency then serve in glasses.

Kevin’s Special Lemon Squeeze

December 28, 2009 · Filed Under Fruit Smoothies · 1 Comment

I’m always a bit leary of a lemon smoothie, but Kevin (the recipe submitter) knows what he is doing from my experience. I haven’t tried this myself yet, so send in your thoughts and critiques. I would be interested in hearing how tart or how sweet this lemon smoothie actually is.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lemon
  • ½ inch fresh ginger
  • 1 mango
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tablespoon maca powder
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seed
  • 1 handful of cilantro
  • Coconut water or plain water

Preparation:

This is a great smoothie for hot days and after a workout. Throw everything together and blend, adding water until desired consistency is reached.
