Green Julius
This submission isn’t a smoothie recipe I have tried. And I’m not the biggest fan of green smoothies – usually not sweet enough for my tastes, but the health benefits of gren smoothies can’t be ignored. Please let me know if you try this one. I am very curious how the parsley would taste. That’s a lot of parsley. Pardons to the more famous Orange Julius recipes we have.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups orange juice
- 2 large mangoes
- 2 cups fresh parsley or spinach
- 2 cups of ice
Blend well and drink your healthy green smoothie. Yields 4 cups or 2 servings, as I feel 16 ounces is one serving for a smoothie.

I was thumbing through ESPN the Magazine and found this smoothie recipe by Major League Baseball pitcher Barry Zito. He says, “I came up with this after a bit of experimentation.” Usually that is when the best smoothies are made, I think. He added, “Protein smoothies can suffice for a few of your meals, but a lot of the remade smoothies or shakes are too chalky. Stevia is a key ingredient because the raspberries can be bitter.”
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of various frozen berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
- 2 cups of vanilla rice milk
- 2 scoops of whey protein
- 1/2 packet of Stevia.
Simply blend all the ingredients until smooth and pour into a glass.

Blue Soymilk Smoothie
I have recently become addicted to Silk Soymilk and its creamy vanilla flavor. I read on the outside of the Silk Soymilk box a very simple smoothie recipe. I changed it a little after trying their recipe and added some more fruit. It is delicious so I wanted to share it with you in case you didn’t believe the simplicity of recipe could actually be so tasty.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Silk Vanilla Soymilk
- 1 cup frozen blueberries (they must be frozen)
- 1/2 strawberries (fresh or frozen)
And that’s it. No sweeteners needed, it is wonderfully creamy and delicious. My wife asked for seconds. I blended it in my Bullet Blender (Magic Bullet Express 17-Piece High-Speed Blender Mixing System) and it was quick to make. I now have a new quick and favorite standby. If you have tried any other combos, please let me know.

Another green smoothie with a distinct flavor. Mixing pear and banana is something you will discover is a delicious and wonderful flavor combination. You won’t even taste the kale, but you will still get the health benefits.
Ingredients:
- 2 bananas
- 1 Gala apple
- 1 pear
- 1 cup of kale
- 1/2 cup water
This makes 2-3 servings, but don’t feel bad downing the entire smoothie by yourself. It is that good.
