Green Julius

July 17, 2010 · Filed Under Green Smoothies · 1 Comment

This submission isn’t a smoothie recipe I have tried. And I’m not the biggest fan of green smoothies – usually not sweet enough for my tastes, but the health benefits of gren smoothies can’t be ignored. Please let me know if you try this one. I am very curious how the parsley would taste. That’s a lot of parsley. Pardons to the more famous Orange Julius recipes we have.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 2 large mangoes
  • 2 cups fresh parsley or spinach
  • 2 cups of ice

Blend well and drink your healthy green smoothie. Yields 4 cups or 2 servings, as I feel 16 ounces is one serving for a smoothie.

Frozen Blueberry Smoothie Recipe

February 15, 2010 · Filed Under Blueberry Smoothies, Low Fat Smoothies · 3 Comments

I have been on a blueberry kick lately and what better way to get some blueberries in your diet than with a blueberry smoothie. Nothing complicated here, but the honey will really sweeten this smoothie. You may wish to taste before adding it in.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries (unthawed)
  • 1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
  • 1/2 cup 1% skim or 1% milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2-3 ice cubes (optional)

Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth or to desired consistency then serve in glasses.

College Dorm Smoothie

September 23, 2009 · Filed Under Dessert Smoothies, Fruit Smoothies · 3 Comments

Most of us don’t really have a package of frozen strawberries or a container of plain yogurt (not to mention flaxseed) lying around, but we crave smoothies too!  So this is for you, ESPECIALLY if you’re a college student and you can swipe all these items from your dining hall.

Ingredients:

  • 4 ice cubes
  • All-fruit Popsicle (I used Edy’s strawberry Fresh Fruit bar)
  • 1/2 cup of orange juice
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 6 oz flavored yogurt (I used Yoplait light banana creme pie)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/3 packet of instant oatmeal (I used Quaker Low Sugar Strawberries and Cream)

and just blend it all up!

Submitted by a college student, obviously.
