Tropical Pina Colada Smoothie

January 9, 2011 · Filed Under Pineapple Smoothies, Protein Smoothie · 3 Comments

I’m not a huge fan of pina colada, although I love the song. ;-) But I must admit I do love the smell of coconut so if you make this smoothie, I would suggest really getting the coconut milk and not using regular milk. It will make all the difference. This is a great breakfast smoothie with plenty of vitamins and protein to get your day started right and make you feel as if you are on vacation in some tropical paradise. I also think substituting the apple for mango is a nice twist. Comment below if you try this tropical smoothie.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pineapple
  • 1 apple
  • 3 Tbs coconut milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 orange

Blend and serve. If you want to get fancy add a Cocktail drink Umbrella and garnish with pineapple and banana.

Barry Zito Protein Smoothie

June 6, 2010 · Filed Under Protein Smoothie · 2 Comments

I was thumbing through ESPN the Magazine and found this smoothie recipe by Major League Baseball pitcher Barry Zito. He says, “I came up with this after a bit of experimentation.” Usually that is when the best smoothies are made, I think. He added, “Protein smoothies can suffice for a few of your meals, but a lot of the remade smoothies or shakes are too chalky. Stevia is a key ingredient because the raspberries can be bitter.”

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of various frozen berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
  • 2 cups of vanilla rice milk
  • 2 scoops of whey protein
  • 1/2 packet of Stevia.

Simply blend all the ingredients until smooth and pour into a glass.
