POM Morning Protein Shake
I love pomegranate and POM is a wonderful way to get the great taste of pomegranate and the wonderful health benefits it provides. Pour POM into a smoothie, add some protein powder and a handful of almond slivers and you have a POWerful POM breakfast smoothie to get your day going right.
POM Smoothie Ingredients:
- 1 cup POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice
- 3/4 soy or almond milk
- 2 ice cubes
- 1 large banana
- 2 tablespoons silvered almonds
- 2 tablespoons protein powder
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional, but recommended.)
Feel free to substitute low-fat milk for the soy or almond milk. Honey is optional but I like the bit of sweetness.
Berry Healthy Breakfast Smoothie
While just about all smoothies are packed with vitamins since their ingredients are usually fruits and vegetables, there are some healthy smoothies that are healthier and more rich in vitamins than others. This is one of the best healthy smoothies I have come across and its taste can’t be beat. I usually prefer frozen fruit for a better texture and consistency, but frozen or fresh this will be a delicious and healthy breakfast smoothie or anytime smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1/2 cup blackberries
- 1 medium carrot
- 1 cup low-fat milk
- 1 cup pomegranate (cranberry is an okay substitute)
- 2 cups ice
Easily 2 servings, but don’t feel too guilty if you finish it by yourself, it is that good.
Pomegranate Smoothie With Cranberry
Sadly I only discovered the incredible flavor rush of fresh pomegranate seed a year or so ago. So I have missed out, but I am making up for lost time. When the pomegranate is in season (Oct. – Jan.) I try to get the actual fruit, but other times I must buy the pomegranate juice to make smoothie. Here is a great pomegranate smoothie recipe that will perk up your taste buds and give you a burst of energy.
Ingredients:
3 cups chilled unsweetened cranberry juice
3/4 cup chilled pomegranate juice
1/3 cup fresh lime juice
6 packets of no-calorie sweetener
3 cups chilled club soda
In large pitcher, combine cranberry juice, pomegranate juice and lime juice. Stir in sweetener until dissolved. Add club soda and pour into glasses. (Serves 4) Courtesy of InStyle Magazine
No Oxidantal Buzz!
No Oxidantal Buzz!
This recipe combines the powerful antioxidants found in tart cherries with an antioxidant cousin, the pomegranate. Mix them with some vodka and ice and the result is a multi-berryable buzz. You can spice up the drink with some blackberry brandy. Use it in moderation as it tends to overpower the other flavors. You may or may want to add a spoonful of sugar to help the (tart) go down, although, it’s very delicious on its own!
Ingredients:
- 8 oz Ice
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1 oz Pomegranate Liquor
- ½ oz Blackberry Brandy (Optional)
- 8 oz Tart Cherry Juice
- 1 Table Spoon Sugar (Add or Subtract to individual preference)
Preparation:
- Mix all in Blender
- Pour into 10 oz Glass
- Garnish with a Maraschino Cherry
- Serve
