My daughter came home from school the other morning with a recipe her teacher gave to everyone…It’s titled Orange Smoothie, but I think a better name for it would be Orange Creamsicle Smoothie…it tastes almost identical…

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup of orange TangOranges)
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Mango Strawberry Banana Smoothie

mango-banana-strawberry-smoothieI found this wonderful smoothie image on Flickr.com and then found the smoothie recipe on Sandra’s Recipes at http://sandrarecipeblogsite.blogspot.com. Not only is this mango, strawberry, banana smoothie a treat for the tongue, it is a visual delight for the eyes. Sandra has done a masterful job creating this smoothie. Please visit her site to find more recipes (and every recipe has a photo). This smoothie needs to be built in two colorful layers. It takes a little extra time, but you and anyone you share this smoothie with will be delighted at the results.

An added feature for this smoothie is the fact that is a non-dairy smoothie.

Smoothie Ingredients:
Bottom layer:
  • 1 mango, peeled, pitted and chopped
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 medium ice cubes

Top Layer:

  • 1 banana, chopped
  • 10 strawberries, cut in half
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 3 medium ice cubes

Directions: In a blender, puree the mango, orange juice, lime juice, honey, and ice cubes, until smooth, and divide amongst 2 straight-sided 8 oz. glasses, and set aside.

Rinse blender, then puree banana, strawberries, lemon juice, and ice cubes, until smooth, and gently pour into glasses while trying to maintain a line separating the layers.

I would love to post additional photos of this smoothie, so if you give it a try, send in the photos to blenderman@smoothieweb.com and I’ll add them and give you credit.

Green Julius

July 17, 2010 · Filed Under Green Smoothies · 7 Comments

This submission isn’t a smoothie recipe I have tried. And I’m not the biggest fan of green smoothies – usually not sweet enough for my tastes, but the health benefits of gren smoothies can’t be ignored. Please let me know if you try this one. I am very curious how the parsley would taste. That’s a lot of parsley. Pardons to the more famous Orange Julius recipes we have.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 2 large mangoes
  • 2 cups fresh parsley or spinach
  • 2 cups of ice

Blend well and drink your healthy green smoothie. Yields 4 cups or 2 servings, as I feel 16 ounces is one serving for a smoothie.

Strawberry Smoothie with a Sweet Twist

December 5, 2009 · Filed Under Strawberry Smoothies · 3 Comments

Sometimes naming a smoothie can be difficult. I mean you can only come up with so many smoothies with “surprise” or “delight” in the name. But strawberry smoothies are especially difficult because there are so many variations. So this recipe has a little bit of everything (the twist) and ice cream + honey (the sweet). The inexact science of naming smoothie recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 4 strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • Half mango
  • Half pineapple
  • 2 scoops Ice-cream
  • 1 cup of Orange Juice
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Preparation:
Chop strawberries in half. Chop banana in 4 pieces. Chop mango and pineapple in 4 pieces (8 in total.) 2 scoops of ice-cream and put in blender. Pour orange juice in blender. Add the teaspoon of honey. Put all ingrediants in blender and blend until smooth. Pour in glass and enjoy!
