Lime Smoothie

It is time for lime, as in a refreshing lime smoothie recipe. I personally love the taste of lime and you’ll notice there are not too many smoothie recipes for this wonderful fruit. Of course to make it more palatable I have add some great sweeteners. Let me know what you think.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup lime (sliced)
- 3/4 cup low-fat milk
- 1 cup lime sherbet (can be light or low fat)
- 1/2 cup raspberries
- 2 cups ice
You can substitute key lime yogurt for the sherbet for a smoother, albeit, slightly different taste.
Berry Berry Blast Smoothie
Berries are probably my favorite smoothie ingredients and this berry smoothie has a truckload of berries, and feel free to shove some boysenberries
in here as well or substitute. You can’t go wrong combining berries in a berry smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup raspberries
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1/2 blackberries
- 1 cup low-fat yogurt (some type of berry yogurt would be best, but plain is fine too)
- 1/4 cup low-fat milk or 1/2 cup fat-free milk
- 2 cups of ice
While this smoothie is heavy on berries doesn’t lack of great flavor variety. I haven’t tried it with boysenberry but I would love to hear about it. Let me know if you try it. Blend until smooth.
Tangerine Berry Smoothie Recipe
Tangerine Berry Smoothie
- 1⁄2 cup lowfat or nonfat plain yogurt
- 1⁄2 cup tangerine juice
- 1⁄2 cup frozen, unsweetened strawberries, unthawed
- 1 tablespoon sugar, or to taste
In a blender whirl all ingredients together 30 seconds to 1 minute until smooth and frothy. Makes 1 serving; about 1 – 1⁄2 cups.
Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie
Pineapple is a difference maker in smoothies which is why it is rarely used. It’s distinct flavor can’t be ignored.
Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie Recipe
- 3/4 bag frozen unsweetened whole strawberries
- 4 cups Dole pineapple juice
- 1 cup orange juice (fresh-squeezed or Tropicana Pure Premium
- recommended)
- 1 1/2 cups lowfat vanilla yogurt, frozen
Put all ingredients into blender. Blend well, stopping to stir when necessary, until smoothie consistency is reached!
Limey Watermelon Smoothie
Summer is the right time for watermelons and they taste fabulous when blended into a smoothie. Add some yogurt for texture and lime for a bit of zip and you’ll have a new favorite.
Limey Watermelon Smoothie Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups watermelon – chopped
- 1 1/2 cups honeydew melon – chopped
- 2 limes — juice only
- 1 cup vanilla lowfat yogurt
- 1 cup ice cubes
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses. Yield: 4 serving
