Lemonade Tart Smoothie

May 23, 2009 · Filed Under Strawberry Smoothies · 6 Comments

I like a tart smoothie better than a sweet smoothie and I bet a few of you are like me. This smoothie recipe is for all of us who like a little pucker during our smoothie sipping. Let’s keep this smoothie recipe simple. And please give some feedback in the comments below if this was a hit or a miss.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of lemonade
  • 2 cups of frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup of fruit yogurt. I like either strawberry or raspberry flavored. I also choose low fat.
  • 1/2 cup of ice
  • Garnish with a slice of lime if you want to get fancy

Not much else to do but blend and enjoy the tartness of life.

Blackberry Smoothie with a Twist

February 22, 2009 · Filed Under Dessert Smoothies, Fruit Smoothies, Strawberry Smoothies · 4 Comments

Blackberries pack a punch of antioxidants and this blackberry smoothie will keep piling on the healthy nutritional value with loads of other great, healthy ingredients. Yeah, yeah, it has ice cream too, but you can swap out non-fat vanilla yogurt if you like.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen blackberries
  • 2 cups ice cream (vanilla will do nicely)
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup 1% milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of lime juice

I would like to try this with 2% milk as well or even using lemon instead of lime. So please leave a comment if you try this and let us know what you think of your smoothie tweaks.

Lime Smoothie

lime-smoothie1

It is time for lime, as in a refreshing lime smoothie recipe. I personally love the taste of lime and you’ll notice there are not too many smoothie recipes for this wonderful fruit. Of course to make it more palatable I have add some great sweeteners. Let me know what you think.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup lime (sliced)
  • 3/4 cup low-fat milk
  • 1 cup lime sherbet (can be light or low fat)
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 2 cups ice

You can substitute key lime yogurt for the sherbet for a smoother, albeit, slightly different taste.
