Lemon Kiwi Cooler Smoothie

When life gives you lemon, make lemonade, or so the saying goes. But on this site, I say instead of making lemonade, make a lemon smoothie. And if you follow this motto here is the lemon smoothie to try. If you like a tart flavor then you are already a fan of the lemon or even the lime and this smoothie  meets my tart expectations. The use of a the kiwi is a flavor mix and the grapes and a counter sweetness that make it come alive. I would love to hear comments on the use of lemons in your smoothie recipes so please share your reviews after you try this one. I wouldn’t mind hearing about the use of a lime in place or in addition to the lemon. Bring it on!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups grapes (red or green, but I prefer red grapes)
  • 1/2 lemon, peeled and seeded
  • 1/2  kiwi, peeled (trust me, you must peel it or you will get the hairiest smoothie ever.)
  • 3 cups of ice.

Preparation time: about 5 minutes, yields about 5 cups.

Kool Kiwi Sensation Smoothie

I love Kiwi but it doesn’t make it into many smoothies for me. Not sure why since it is an incredibly healthy addition to any smoothie and with high counts of vitamin A and E it is a welcome food to our bodies. I think kiwis need a little help so I have added strawberries to this smoothie. But don’t worry, the kiwi flavor will come though giving you a different taste than you may be used to.

Ingredients:

  • 2 kiwis (peeled and sliced)
  • 2 cups strawberries
  • 1/3 cup kiwi-strawberry juice
  • 1 cup low-fat plain yogurt
  • 1 1/2 cups ice

Blend and serve and feel healthier.

I chopped up some fresh strawberries, kiwis, and a banana. I added some strawberry yogurt and apple juice, and blended it all together. It was so delicious. It was nice to take this photo using day light on Saturday morning… wish I could take more photos in daylight rather than at night after work.

Editor: This smoothie is one of the best on the site in my opinion if you want the most flavorful smoothie you can make. Strawberry and kiwi make a wonderful flavor combination, but the hint of organic apple juice
really makes this smoothie a winner.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 kiwi
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup strawberry yogurt
  • 1/4 cup apple juice

Lots of Fruit Smoothie Recipe

Lots of Fruit Smoothie
All begin with a base of:

  • 1⁄2 c. plain, vanilla, or strawberry yogurt
  • 1⁄4-1/2 c. milk then perhaps some fruit juice, usually orange or Dole specialty juices, 1⁄4-1/2c. Followed by fruit in many varying combinations, always including either banana or melon.
  • 1 banana
  • Handful frozen or fresh strawberries or blueberries one 4-5″ wide slice out of a cantaloupe or honeydew melon
  • 1 kiwi

Then I’d blend it till I was pleased with the result. I found that melon added a lot of sweetness and made a nice background taste. I don’t
always use juice when I use the melon. We especially liked melon and blueberries, bananas and strawberries.
