Great Grape Smoothie

Grapes are available year round, but summer seedless grapes are the best. As spring approaches I’m looking forward to the delicious flavor a crips red grape contains. Try thi in a smoothie and reap all the health benefits the red grape has to offer. Grape smoothies don’t get the respect they deserve.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups chilled (not quite frozen) red seeless grapes
  • 2/3 cup sherbet ice cream (raspberry or lime)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened grape juice
  • 1 to 3 cups of ice (start with one and add more as needed)

Blend this one ingredient at a time and add the ice cubes slowly until the thickness you want is desired.

Breakfast Replacement Smoothie

Trying to get out the door in the morning and eat a good breakfast is a tough combination, so finding a good smoothie combination to help me is a good idea. Well, I like Grape Nuts cereal and I like to mix it in yogurt and eat it with lunch or for a snack. So why not blend it into a breakfast smoothie? So I did.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup grape nuts
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (low-fat)
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 banana
  • 2 cups juice (orange, apple or whatever you like. I wouldn’t mind trying pineapple in this)

Blend and feel the energy!

Purple Cow Smoothie (Grape)

January 18, 2008 · Filed Under Dessert Smoothies, Fruit Smoothies · Comment

Sometimes it can be tough to find good grapes, especially during the winter months in Viriginia, so using grape concentrate in place of grapes is a good idea for a grape smoothie recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream (that’s the cow part)
  • 8 tbs. frozen grape juice concentrate (I like Welch’s and this is the purple part)
  • 1 cup of milk (also the cow part)
  • 1 cup of ice

Blend and enjoy.

Zacarito Smoothie

The Zacarito Smoothie Recipe

  • 1/2 container of Welch’s Frozen 100% white grape juice concentrate
  • 1 peeled banana
  • 1/2 cup Strawberries, fresh or frozen(if frozen, let thaw 15 min)
  • 1/2 cup Pineapple Chunks, fresh or canned
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
  • Ice Cubes

Smoothie Preparation:

  1. Pour the concentrate into blender.
  2. Add fruit and scoop in yogurt
  3. fill blender half way with ice
  4. Blend until thick and smooth (should not be watery or thin)

************************For an “adult” twist*********************************

Add 3/4 shot glass of brandy or 1 shot glass of strawberry vodka into the bottom of the blender before following with concentrate, fruit, yogurt and ice. Blend until thick and smooth

If you prefer, you can substitute a splash of milk for the yogurt.
You may add or leave out any fruit. The frozen concentrate is important for this recipe, it makes it think, and gives it a stronger flavor.
