Peanut Butter Fudge Protein Bar

September 8, 2011 · Filed Under Homemade Protein Bars · 2 Comments

This is the first non-smoothie recipe on the site. It won’t be a common occurrence, but I thought sharing some other healthy recipes that are homemade would be useful. And since many of us use smoothies as meal replacements I thought adding some other meal replacements such as protein bars would be a good idea. So here is our first protein bar recipe, I hope you give it a try and please give feedback in the comments below if you try it or just let me know if you like this idea or not.

Homemade Peanut Butter Fudge Protein Bar Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 scoops chocolate protein powder
  • 2/3 cup flax seed meal
  • 4 tbsp natural peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • stevia or natural sweetener (optional)
  • 2 tbsp coca powder (optional)

Preparation:

Place all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir until you get a nice sticky ball of dough. Add a bit of water (1 tbsp) if you need to. After the consistency is like a blob of dough you can move to the next step.

Divide the doughy mixture into 4 equal portions and place form into bar shapes and wrap in plastic wrap. You may wish to shape them by placing the plastic wrap in a small casserole dish and pushing the mixture into the shape of the dish.

Place the protein bars in the refrigerator or freezer. Wait until they are fully solid and enjoy. They will keep for about 2 week in the fridge.

Granola Protein Bar

Granola has always by synonymous with healthy and so I have added our second homemade protein bar recipe and this time have included granola in the recipe. Instead of freezing this protein bar you are going to cook it then let it cool. Can’t you just smell the aromas (apples, vanilla, almond, etc.) cooking and filling your kitchen. You will be hard pressed to not scarf all 12 servings with they come out of the oven. Enjoy this healthy snack treat.

Ingredients:

  • 3 scoops vanilla protein powder
  • 2.5 cups oats
  • 2.5 tbs flax meal
  • 4 oz unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 oz almonds, chopped
  • 3/4 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup dried fruit, chopped

Directions
Mix the following ingredients in a bowl: oats, protein powder, flax meal, honey, applesauce, brown sugar, baking soda, and vanilla extract. When ingredients are thoroughly mixed add the remaining ingredients.

Prepare a cookie sheet by spraying it with a non-stick spray. Add the mixture to the cookie sheet and press it flat so it evenly cover the space and is about 1/4 inch thick. Preheat the oven to 325 degree and then bake for about 18 minutes. Let the protein bars cool completely and cut into 12 bars for a delicious, healthy and filling snack.
