Banana Split Smoothie
Too lazy to eat a banana split? How about drinking a banana split? Bananas are great smoothie ingredients so why not bring the split to the smoothie? You can add a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you wish, but it tastes great without it.
Ingredients:
- 2 bananas
- 8 oz. crushed pineapple, drained
- 1 1/4 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of unsweetened strawberries (frozen or fresh)
- 2 tbs. honey
- 6 ice cubes
- 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream (optional)
Garnish
- whipped topping
- chocolate syrup
- maraschino cherries
Preparation
Combine bananas, pineapple, milk, strawberries and honey in a blender. Blend until smooth, no lumps. Start adding ice slowly and blending until slushy. Pour into large glasses, preferably chilled then garnish with whipped topping, chocolate syrup, and maraschino cherries. The perfect banana split in a glass.
Blackberry Smoothie with a Twist
Blackberries pack a punch of antioxidants and this blackberry smoothie will keep piling on the healthy nutritional value with loads of other great, healthy ingredients. Yeah, yeah, it has ice cream too, but you can swap out non-fat vanilla yogurt if you like.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup frozen blackberries
- 2 cups ice cream (vanilla will do nicely)
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 cup 1% milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of lime juice
I would like to try this with 2% milk as well or even using lemon instead of lime. So please leave a comment if you try this and let us know what you think of your smoothie tweaks.

Peachy Keen Smoothie
Summer peaches, is there anything sweeter? Probably, but still…a peach smoothie in July is a good thing. You may wish to leave in the syrup if you use can sweetened peaches.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups peaches (its up to you if you used sweetened or not, I do)
- 1 cup 2% milk
- 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream or 2 cups of vanilla yogurt
- pinch of nutmeg
- 1 cup of orange juice
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
The almond adds a nice flavor, but try it without if you don’t have any, you’ll still find it delicious. Adding the ice cream really sweetens it up, so yogurt can take some sugar out. Blend this sucker up and enjoy!
Grapefruit Smoothie
I personally don’t like grapefruit, but my wife loves them, so there must be others who would enjoy a grapefruit smoothie. While it is too tart for my tastes it is an ultra healthly smoothie recipe.

- 3/4 cup of sliced pineapple
- 1/4 cup of pineapple juice (this will sweeten it up nicely)
- 1 cup plain low-fat yogurt
- 2 cups ice
- Optional: feel free to add a scoop of ice cream for an even sweeter taste.
