Cons: None after 7 years.

We purchased this blender about 7 years ago and it is still going strong. Only recently have I had to have the base gearing replaced, and now also I will need to purchase a replacement for the cutting blade. And not because of the cutting blade itself, but because the gears on the cutting blade part have finally worn out. After 7 years, the blade is still sharp and the unit is still going strong.Ours is a glass jug, very sturdy, have not had to worry about 4 careless teens breaking or chipping glass (so far). It is very easy to clean, most times we just rinse with hot water without taking it apart. Gasket holds up well, only replaced after about 5 years. I’ve seen it mentioned elsewhere not to put the gasket in the dishwasher. Probably a good idea. We rarely have had to put it in or use the dishwasher to clean it. Blade assembly, after 7 years shows no signs of wear nor rust. Very well made.The controls are very easy to use, there are only FIVE settings and a pulse mode. Not like most with a dizzying (& useless) 12 – 18 speeds.) Come on, how many controls/speeds can you really differentiate, it gets ridiculous. The Braun clearly has labeled a picture also for each of the 5 speeds to identify what that speed is best for, no memorizing and no wondering if there really is a difference between # 7 & # 10, etc.

Easy to clean.We have had no problems with it. As we encourage our 4 teens to eat healthily, it is used 2-3-4 times per day most days, while they make a healthy yogurt/frozen fruit smoothie. I have a nutritional smoothie every morning for breakfast.If they still make them as good as 7 years ago, then I would highly recommend the Braun MX 2050 5 speed Jug Blender. Yes, it is a little noisy, but (see below) after trying another high rated brand, it too as well as most all blenders are at about the same noise level.P.S. When the base gearing broke, I looked around at several resources and purchased another brand which was supposedly highly rated – for about $35.00. It was awful!!! I tried it once, and couldn’t get it back to the store fast enough. So I took my Braun and drove the 50 minutes to the nearest authorized repair facility, waited the 1/2 hour to fix, and drive back. Spending the $20.00 to repair, the 2-1/2 hours of time, and the gas (at over $3.00 at the time) was well worth the effort.

P.P.S. I only wish the base gearing was replaceable by the consumer; however, then, possibly, the construction may not have been as good.
