Blueberry Plus Smoothie

Smoothie Category: Blueberry Smoothies

Here is a wonderful smoothie packed with fruity goodness. It all starts with the simple blueberry.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1.5 cups orange juice
  • 1.5 cup skim milk
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup frozen peaches

Put everything in the mixer. Blend. Drink. Serves 4 or so.

A pinch of salt will help bring out more flavor, but I usually avoid it. If you think the drink is still too sour (and it will have a bit of a tang to it) you can add honey or even sugar, but you really shouldn’t need to.

Using frozen fruit means you don’t have to use ice which waters down the drink.

My daughter has several food allergies including dairy. I was searching for non-dairy smoothie recipes and came across the non-dairy category on the smoothieweb website. FYI – yogurt and whey powder are dairy ingredients. These are not truly dairy free recipes!

Skim milk is 0% or no fat. Just makes the smoothie a bit healthier. Use whatever milk you like best.

I think I would have used either apple or pineapple juice, it was a little tart for my taste. I will also try this with vanilla flavored yogurt next time.

If you’re not keen on orange juice, grape juice would be a good substitute. Or even better – Acai or Pomegranate juice. Those break the bank a bit though.

I halved the recipe, because it said serves approximately 4… still had enough for at least 4 people. Going to be drinking this smoothie for a few breakfasts!
