Blackberry Smoothie with a Twist

February 22, 2009 · Filed Under Dessert Smoothies, Fruit Smoothies, Strawberry Smoothies

Blackberries pack a punch of antioxidants and this blackberry smoothie will keep piling on the healthy nutritional value with loads of other great, healthy ingredients. Yeah, yeah, it has ice cream too, but you can swap out non-fat vanilla yogurt if you like.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen blackberries
  • 2 cups ice cream (vanilla will do nicely)
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup 1% milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of lime juice

I would like to try this with 2% milk as well or even using lemon instead of lime. So please leave a comment if you try this and let us know what you think of your smoothie tweaks.

I spiced this drink up by adding low fat yogurt (instead of ice cream) and Kristian Regále Black Currant Sparkler instead of milk. The Kristian Regále adds more of a carbonated feel and improves this into a health shake! Kristian Regále makes other flavors that you can use in different smoothies as well. Enjoy!
