Peachy Watermelon Smoothie
I love watermelon and the fact that it is only in season for such a short time means I try to eat it as often as I can during the few summer months when it is at its most refreshing and sweet. For some reason I don’t often use it my smoothie recipes even though watermelon is a incredibly healthy food for you. This delicious food is packed with some of the most powerful antioxidants in nature, including Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Vitamin B7. These reduce the chance of colon cancer, relieve some symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, according to The World’s Healthiest Foods. So here is a summer smoothie recipe featuring watermelon, strawberries and peach flavor.
Peachy Watermelon Smoothie Ingredients:
- 2-3 cups watermelon (seeded)
- 1 cup low fat vanilla yogurt
- 1 cup strawberries (frozen)
- 1/2 cup peach juice
(or try 1 peach if you don’t have juice)
You know the drill, add to your blender and blend until smooth. Makes 2 nice size glasses.
Lemon Basil Smoothie
This week my wife purchased a small container of sorbet for me called lemon basil sorbet. I thought it was delicious and the flavor was very unique as I wasn’t used to tasting basil in a cold beverage. Then I thought this would make a great smoothie because a sorbet is really just a frozen smoothie in many ways. So here is a smoothie recipe for a lemon basil smoothie. I am very curious to get reactions to this one from our readers. Please comment below how this turned out for you. Believe it or not I do post honest, and respectful negative opinions and comments so please let me know what you thought about this smoothie after making it yourself. I must admit I’m getting more adventurous in my combinations and this is a step in that direction.
Lemon Basil Smoothie Ingredients:
- 2 cups lemon sorbet
- 1 cup milk
- 6 ounces vanilla yogurt
- 2 teaspoons lemon zest (finely grated works best)
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil (chopped)
- 1 cup ice
As usual put in a blender and let ‘er rip. Blend until smooth and when you pour it in your glass be sure to scrape all that tasty basil out of the blender.
This makes 3 servings, but 2 servings is cool too.
We hope this smoothie recipe provieds you with the smoothie of your dreams.Still want more delicious smoothie recipes? Try looking at the
